e-Management has named former White House CIO Karen Britton senior vice president and chief operating officer.

In her new role, Britton will help the company expand into the Defense Department as well as federal civilian and intelligence markets. She will also help e-Management develop strategic commercial corporate relationships.

She joins the company from the Executive Office of the President, where she served as chief information officer to President Obama. She led initiatives related to cloud computing, agile software, and open-source approaches, e-Management said in a release.

Before her tenure as CIO, she served as deputy CIO for the Executive Office.
