DISA asks for mobile device management, app store in new RFI

The Defense Information Systems Agency issues RFI for solutions that can handle mobile device management and a mobile application store for DOD users.

The Defense Information Systems Agency needs an enterprise-level solution that will handle mobile device management and provide a mobile application store for users.

DISA wants to deliver secure unclassified and classified mobile communication services to users. The solution must ensure interoperable, secure and reliable access by the workforce to any information anywhere at any time.

Mobile device management includes the policy, security and permissions that define the functions users are able to use on Defense Department-issued mobile devices. The mobile application store is an online digital electronic software distribution system.

The solution will be comprised of an infrastructure that delivers secured and encrypted cellular, or mobile, voice and data services, mobile endpoint devices with endpoint security for both unclassified and classified material.

For the newly released request for information, DISA is focused primarily on information regarding technology advances, market maturity and technical capabilities in the last 18 months to provide the required capabilities.

DISA released its RFI Oct. 22. Responses are due by Nov. 13.
