Northrop Grumman to help NASA explore the sun under $3M contract

Northrop Grumman has won a nearly $3 million contract to supply its space inertial reference system to NASA’s Solar Probe Plus program.

Northrop Grumman has won a nearly $3 million contract to supply its space inertial reference system to NASA’s Solar Probe Plus program.

This contract was awarded by Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will support the Solar Probe Plus program, which is expected to launch in 2018. The program is intended to explore the sun’s outer atmosphere for the first time, the company said in a release.
