Rockwell Collins has won an $11.9 million contract with the Navy to upgrade the E-6B Mercury Weapon System Trainer.

Rockwell Collins has won an $11.9 million contract with the Navy to upgrade the E-6B Mercury Weapon System Trainer.

The Navy’s E-6B Mercury aircraft provides survivable, reliable and endurable airborne C3 between the National Command Authority and U.S. strategic and non-strategic forces, and it is equipped with battlestaff positions and an airborne launch control system, according to the NAVAIR website.

Work will be performed in Richardson, Texas, and Binghamton, N.Y., and is expected to be completed by February 2017.
