DHS cancels RFI on improved enterprise operations center

Homeland Security Department officials abruptly canceled a request for information about their plans to consolidate the current Enterprise Operations Center and Network Operations Center.

The consolidation would have created the Next Generation ECO, complete with more capability to support the numerous components of the department. The new setup would have coordinated with network carriers and data center support contractors to solve operational problems.

The RFI was released May 16 but canceled May 21.

A DHS official said they are retooling the RFI and will reissue it in the short term.
