Lockheed acquires small U.K.-based IT firm

Move bolsters international position and energy, transport and public sectors

Lockheed Martin has acquired Amor Group in a move to bolster its information technology solutions for the energy, transport and public sectors.

The U.K.-based Amor Group is a privately held company that helps oil and gas operators protect production assets, ensures the effective operations of airports, and provides IT-related services for U.K. citizens. It has 500 employees across seven facilities in the United Kingdom, and has a presence in 15 other countries, Lockheed Martin said.

The company is headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland.

Amor Group's Chroma Airport Suite is operational at more than 75 airports worldwide and manages more than 3 million aircraft movements, while tracking 700 million passengers a year, Lockheed Martin said.

The strategic acquisition of Amor Group is aligned with our strategy for Lockheed Martin International and expands our capabilities and expertise in international information technology, civil government services and the energy market," said Lockheed president and CEO, Marillyn Hewson.
