GD names retired Marine Corps general as new board member

General Dynamics has tapped retired U.S. Marine Corps general James Mattis to serve on its board of directors.

General Dynamics has named retired Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis to its board of directors.

Mattis was commander of the U.S. Central Command from August 2010 until March 2013, General Dynamics said.

Before that, he was commander of the U.S. Joint Forces Command from 2007 to 2010, he company said.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Central Washington State University and has graduated from the Amphibious Warfare School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, as well as the National War College.
