Booz Allen CEO finally speaks out about Snowden

Says that Snowden cannot and will not define Booz Allen

Booz Allen Hamilton CEO Ralph Shrader has finally spoken out about Edward Snowden, the accused NSA leaker hiding in the Moscow airport, saying that the company “cannot and will not let him define us,” according to FedBiz Daily.

“I told our employees, ‘Mr. Snowden was on our payroll but was not a Booz Allen person and did not share our values,” FedBiz Daily quoted Shrader as saying. “Our long-term clients know the kind of company we are."

Shrader added that it is unclear whether Snowden had any impact on any current or future work that Booz Allen is doing. FedBiz Daily suspects that Shrader’s comments were made to appease investors more than anything else.

Ok. So, was he, say, a SAIC person? While the stock seems surprisingly buoyant given market conditions, this comment by Mr. Schrader does not seem to have much appeasement power vis-a-vis investors. Institutional investors will look at not just the growth rate of net income from its minuscule base and payout of special dividends, but also the simple comparative arithmetic of net margins. Most other services companies of size make much more, and in other industries, the reported net margin performance would be reason to diminish the position. As long as Federal spending, which drives the market is slack, investments in this industry show weak short and midterm potential, or so it would seem.
