N.J. professional services firm gains local Edge

Artech Information Systems LLC, a provider of workforce solutions to the government, has acquired Edge Professional Services LLC, a Washington, D.C., information technology services firm.

Artech Information Systems LLC, a provider of workforce solutions to the government, has acquired Edge Professional Services LLC, an information technology services firm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Artech is a minority, woman-owned business that provides workforce solutions, IT consulting and outsourced project services. The Cedar Knolls, N.J., company employs more than 5,200 professionals at offices across the United States as well as in India, China and Mexico.

Founded in 1997, Edge, of Rockville, Md., provides professional, technical and IT services to commercial and federal government clients in the United States.

The company holds a Defense Department Top Secret clearance and is an approved GSA Schedule 70 supplier.

Edge Executive Vice President Blaine Smith will continue to lead the organization post-close, according to an Artech statement.

Rick Harrison, Edge’s president and managing partner, will continue to support Edge throughout the transition to Artech and beyond, the statement added.

Fairmount Partners, a specialty investment bank near Philadelphia, advised Edge and originated and structured the transaction.
