Customs and Border Protection throws open doors to vendors

U.S. Customs and Border Protection plans to hold an event for vendors to learn about its plans for upcoming information technology procurements.

“The goal of industry day is to provide a forum to better communicate IT requirements and increase competition by sharing information,” CBP said.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Information Technology plans to host an industry day Aug. 13 to discuss its upcoming procurement needs.

IT officials will discuss upcoming plans involving software, hardware, operations and maintenance, major systems, and other IT needs, CBP said in a statement.

The event, to be held at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, is open to large and small contractors as well as representatives from small disadvantaged businesses, 8(a), HUBZone, service-disabled veteran businesses, veteran-owned businesses and woman-owned businesses, the organization, a unit of the Homeland Security Department, said.

Advance registration for the event is required and companies are limited to two in-person representatives. A webcast of the event will be available on the registration Web site for 30 days after the event, CBP said.
