SAIC's support award strengthens EPA information office

Contractor will provide development, operations and maintenance of components

Science Applications International Corp. will provide technical services and information technology to the Environmental Protection Agency under a five-year contract that could be worth more than $26 million if all options are exercised.

The contract specifically calls on SAIC to provide EPA’s Office of Environmental Information with development, operations and maintenance of EPA software, data delivery, and related components.

These services will help the agency enhance information sharing between its headquarters, regional organizations, and supporting entities, according to a company statement released today.

SAIC also will provide database management and support, and design and development services for geographic information system components, and interface/access systems, such as My Environment, a Web-based application providing meaningful environmental information to the public in a single search.

The Office of Environmental Information manages the information life cycle to support EPA’s mission of protecting human health and the environment, the SAIC statement said.

The office also identifies and implements IT and management solutions to ensure the quality of information, and the efficiency and reliability of technology, data collection, exchange efforts, and access services.

The follow-on task order was awarded under EPA’s Software Engineering and Specialized Scientific Support Blanket Purchase Agreement. It has a one-year base period of performance and four one-year options.

Work will be performed primarily in the national capital region.

SAIC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
