CSC delivers technical support to Detroit post offices

Computer Sciences Corp. will oversee efforts to improve Detroit’s mail delivery system under a seven-year contract from the U.S. Postal Service that has a maximum value of $46 million.

Computer Sciences Corp. will oversee efforts to improve Detroit’s mail delivery system under a seven-year contract from the U.S. Postal Service that has a maximum value of $46 million.

Under the terms of the contract, CSC will provide technical and management support for the USPS Mail Transportation Equipment Service Center in the Motor City.

Services will include program management, quality assurance and third-party logistical services.

The company has provided management and logistical support for Mail Transportation Equipment Service Centers across the nation for more than 10 years, company officials said.

CSC works on dynamic logistics and supply chain challenges to improve readiness, increase speed and lower costs, said Alan Weakley, president of the contractor's North American Public Sector Applied Technology Group.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
