Portal Solutions names COO

Microsoft Sharepoint consulting firm Portal Solutions has picked Marty Schuchman as its first chief operating officer. Schuchman started his new job Oct. 6.

He will be responsible for managing the Rockville, Md., firm's growing team of SharePoint consultants and developers who will address the strong demand for its consulting services, company officials said.

"We needed to add management depth at the top in order to sustain our growth effectively," Daniel Cohen-Dumani, Portal Solutions' chief executive officer, said in a statement. He added that the move is "a strong step forward" for the company.

Schuchman has more than 20 years of experience in the software development and consulting sectors. Most recently, he served as COO at Apptix Corp., a provider of business communications technologies.

Before that, Schuchman was senior vice president for Mid-Atlantic Operations for Ness Technologies, an information technology services company. Throughout his career, Schuchman has managed software projects in a variety of environments, both domestically and internationally.
