Business development vet joins Qwest

Deirdre Murray has joined Qwest Communications Inc. as business development manager at its government services division.

Murray, a well-known figure in the federal market, will primarily work on opportunities for Qwest among civilian agencies.

She held a similar role at the public-sector division of Sprint-Nextel Corp. Before Sprint, Murray held marketing, business development and operations positions at GTE Corp. and U.S. West.

"We are pleased Deirdre Murray has joined the Qwest team and is bringing her many years of experience with successful product and service implementations for federal customers," Diana Gowen, senior vice president and general manager at Qwest Government Services, said in a statement. "Deirdre has developed many key senior-level government and industry contacts that will benefit Qwest as it continues to expand its service to the federal government."

Murray has received the Directors Award from the Government Electronics and Information Association, Chairman's Award from the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council and Heroines of Technology Award from Women in Technology. She was twice named to the Federal 100 by Federal Computer Week for her contributions to the federal information technology market.
