Amey Group acquires Amyx

A group led by Scott Amey, co-founder of RS
Information Systems Inc., bought government information
technology services provider Amyx Inc. of
Alexandria, Va. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Amyx was founded by Cheryl Amyx, who will
continue in a senior leadership position.

IBM opts for AptSoft

IBM Corp. is buying Burlington, Mass.-based
AptSoft Corp. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition of the developer of business
event processing software, which helps organizations
identify patterns and establish connections
between events, expands IBM's service-oriented
architecture portfolio.

ICF to buy management firm

ICF International plans to buy Jones and Stokes
Associates Inc., an integrated planning and
resource management firm, for about $50 million.
The companies expect to close the deal in

Sacramento, Calif.-based Jones and Stokes specializes
in transportation, water, energy and natural
resource management.

Sun to buy MySQL

Sun Microsystems Inc. is buying open-source database
vendor MySQL AB for $800 million cash and
will assume $200 million in options for the
Swedish company.

MySQL offers a free, open-source version of its
namesake relational database management system,
in addition to a commercial package, MySQL

Oracle bulks up with BEA buy

Oracle Corp. is buying BEA Systems Inc., of San
Jose, Calif., for $8.5 billion. BEA's products and
technology will extend Oracle's Fusion middleware
suite, company officials said.

Organizations running applications from either
company should find it easy to integrate the new
offerings, they added.
