L-3 gets aviation tactical trainer deal

L-3 Communications Corp. has won a contract from the Army to upgrade the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer.

L-3 Communications Corp. has won a $9.9 million contract from the Army to upgrade the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer.

The mobile, reconfigurable system provides training to aviators for all types of Army rotary-wing aircraft, including the Black Hawk, Kiowa, Apache Longbow and Chinook helicopters.

The company will perform the work in Arlington, Texas, the Defense Department said.

The Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, in Orlando, Fla., awarded the contract.

L-3 of New York ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
