GTSI names Friedlander its new president

Scott Friedlander was promoted to president and chief operating officer at GTSI Corp. effective December 1.

Friedlander, currently executive vice president, will add operations and the company's information technology department to his current responsibilities, which include overseeing all sales, marketing, financial services, solutions engineering, and bids and proposals, the company said.

"This change will organizationally integrate engineering, sales, marketing operations and IT in one group and allow us to intensify cost reduction activities through many process improvement initiatives," said Jim Leto, GTSI's chief executive officer. "Scott has been a key architect in our strategy to return GTSI to profitability. He will be responsible for delivering improved customer operational efficiencies and executing with the executive team on corporate strategy."

Friedlander joined GTSI in 2001 after a 19-year career at Xerox Corp.

GTSI, of Chantilly, Va., ranks No. 37 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
