ATS Corp. plans to acquire Number Six Software Inc., a provider of application development and information technology consulting services, for $36 million in a cash-and-stock deal.

The McLean, Va.-based company said it was making the acquisition to boost its IT services offerings and add new customers in both the government and commercial markets.

The transaction "also represents an important opportunity to increase our scale and establish a strong platform for growth in 2008 and beyond," said Edward Bersoff, ATS' chairman, president and chief executive officer.

Number Six, based in Vienna, Va., has about 175 employees. ATS, which hopes to close the deal within 30 days, expects Number Six will generate annual revenue of about $33 million in 2007.

ATS Corp. offers systems integration, applications development, IT infrastructure and strategic consulting services to government and commercial customers.
