ACS wins Hawaii Medicaid extensions

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won two contract extensions worth a total of $6.4 million from the Med-Quest Division of the Hawaii Human Services Department to continue providing services to two parts of the state's Medicaid program.

Under one contract, ACS provides fiscal agent services. A Medicaid fiscal agent processes and pays claims to medical services providers. The complex process involves entering, resolving and adjusting claims; electronic claims submission and payment; automated voice response for eligibility verification; ID card processing and other aspects.

The other contract requires ACS to provide pharmacy benefits management services. These services involve claims processing, automated and call center prior authorizations, drug rebate administration and other services.

The company has provided both services to Hawaii's Medicaid program since 2001.

ACS, based in Dallas, ranks No. 58 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
