Apogen Technologies has won a $1.7 million contract from the IRS to enhance the intranet used by the Office of the Chief Counsel.

Under the terms of the contract, Apogen's Federal Solutions Group will work with the Counsel Information System Office to operate, maintain and enhance the intranet. The one-year base contract could ultimately span four years if the agency uses all the optional renewals.

Apogen will develop Web applications using commercial software packages for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server, Windows SharePoint Services and Documentum. As necessary the company will provide custom scripts through Web-based applications on the client's intranet.

As a critical part of its work, Apogen will provide system training and rapid response to technical problems reported by users.
