Q2Administrators gets Medicare renewal

Q2Administrators LLC has won a 33-month, $5.8 million contract from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to continue administering the appeals process for Medicare fee-for-service claim denials.

Under the terms of the contract, Q2Administrators of Columbia, S.C., will continue to serve as the administrative qualified independent contractor, a position the company had held since an overhaul of the Medicare appeals process began in 2004.

The administrative qualified independent contractor, or AdQIC, provides services to CMS and the nation's qualified independent contractors, which conduct independent reviews of second-level, fee-for service Medicare appeals.

AdQIC services ranging from education and training and statistical analysis of appeals data to case file management and review of administrative law judge decisions. Services also include coordinating activities among various entities involved in appeals administration.
