DataPath closes Swe-dish purchase

DataPath Inc. has completed its purchase of Swe-dish Satellite Systems AB, a move that rounds out the company's satellite earth terminal portfolio and expands its customer base.

Swe-dish of Stockholm offers customers a line of satellite communications systems with antenna sizes of 1.5 meters and below. The line includes the small Suitcase terminals, Drive-Away (vehicle-mounted) terminals and Fly-Away (transportable) systems.

Swe-dish's customer base includes U.S. military organizations, German, British, Japanese and Swedish defense ministries and various global broadcasters.

Swe-dish will operate as a unit of DataPath and will retain its management team, corporate name and product brands. As for its U.S. customers, Swe-dish will continue serving them from its sales and service facility in Reston, Va.

DataPath of Duluth, Ga., provides various satellite terminals, network control software, wireless and baseband products, and field engineering services.

The company ranks No. 47 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
