ITT gets new order for counter-IED devices
The Naval Sea Systems Command has placed a $317 million order with ITT Corp. for more vehicle-mounted jammers to block the detonation of improvised explosive devices.
The Naval Sea Systems Command has placed a $317 million order with ITT Corp. for more vehicle-mounted jammers to block the detonation of improvised explosive devices.
The Marine Corps will use the 4,501 Crew 2.1 Vehicle Receiver/Jammers (CVRJs) covered by the Navsea order, company officials said March 10.
The Defense Department established the CVRJ program to meet the need for devices to prevent IED detonation. The counter-IED devices are mounted on armored combat vehicles and military transport equipment for use in military operations.
The contract through which the order was placed has a value of more than $1.7 billion and allows for the production of as many as 25,000 of the devices. All branches of the U.S. military use them, company officials said.
ITT, of White Plains, N.Y., ranks No. 14 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
