Alliant Training Starts the Customer Relationship

The foundation of Alliant’s customer service is its training programs. Warranted contracting officers who use the Alliant governmentwide acquisition contract (GWAC) to purchase IT services and solutions need to receive training before they can be given written Delegation of Procurement Authority (DPA) to use Alliant, which is required to use a General Services Administration GWACs.

Industry Shared-Interest Groups 

When the Alliant governmentwide acquisition contract (GWAC) was awarded in May 2009 to 59 contractors, GSA officials recognized that they needed to create formal structures for ensuring effective communication with their industry partners. Previous GSA GWACS, such as ANSWER and Millennia, had as few as 10 contractors, and so it was easy for program officials to chat informally with contractors, keep them apprised of new developments, and receive feedback on progress within the agencies. That approach would be more challenging with the larger Alliant contractor pool.

‘The Sky’s the Limit’ for Alliant Small Business GWAC 

When GSA officials began planning the Alliant Small Business (Alliant SB) program, they drew from best practices across agency’s stable of small business governmentwide acquisition contracts (GWACs), including 8(a) STARS, COMMITS Next Generation, and Veterans Technology Services (VETS). Consequently, when Alliant SB was launched in February 2009, GSA officials incorporated lessons learned for training agency users, collaborating with industry contract holders, and supporting agencies throughout the task order process.
