Through a variety of contract vehicles, the Homeland Security Department has been at the forefront of innovative procurement practices.
As chief procurement officer for all of DHS, Soraya Correa has led the charge on many of these initiatives. Under her purview are such contracts as FirstSource and the Eagle Next Gen Portfolio. She leads a 1,400 person procurement workforce and has pushes such breakthroughs as Acquisition Innovations in Motion or AIiM framework, the Procurement Innovation Lab, or PIL, and EDGE, the Education, Development, Growth and Excellence mentoring program.
While many of her programs cover both large and small businesses, Correa has always put a small business focus on her work, particularly as they can bring agility and innovation to DHS.
