Mark Escobar is the executive vice president and chief of business operations (CBO) at SAIC. In this role he leads SAIC’s Business Operations organization, which brings together contracts, procurement,security, business development operations,government affairs, corporate communications, information technology, and corporate facilities to meet SAIC strategic objectives.

Prior to his role as CBO, Escobar was the general manager of SAIC’s National Security customer group. In this role, he was responsible for supporting a variety of intelligence community customers, the U.S. Air Force, combatant commands and numerous DoD offices and agencies such as the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Defense Information Systems Agency.

Since joining SAIC in 1999, Escobar has served as the general manager of the Department of Defense Agencies and Commands customer group, senior program manager and SAIC operations manager for the Army National Guard/Army Reserve Agency IT services contract. He has also held positions as a program manager, division manager, and chief engineer for a variety of contracts supporting Unified NASA IT Services, the Army Directorate of Information Management, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the National Science Foundation.

Before joining SAIC, Escobar worked for Boeing Information Services, which was later acquired by SAIC, as a chief technologist, engineering department manager, and outsourcing chief engineer for several NASA programs.

Earlier in his career, Escobar was a civilian employee within the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where he managed technical support and network operations for the Defense Manpower Data Center and the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Escobar served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1987 through 1991 in support of the 7th Communications Group at the Pentagon. Escobar also served in the United States Peace Corps in Suva, Fiji, where he taught computer science and statistics at the Fiji Institute of Technology. Escobar holds two bachelor’s degrees in computer science and industrial engineering from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in technology management from George Mason University.
