Nova Space Solutions wins $823M NASA facility support contract
The aptly-named COSMIC contract covers work at NASA's main facility for testing rocket engines, plus a second major hub for assembling large-scale systems.
Nova Space Solutions has won a potential eight-year, $822.7 million contract to provide broad facility and other professional support services at a pair of locations in the Gulf Coast.
The Combined Operations, Services, Maintenance and Infrastructure Contract has an initial 15-month base period that NASA expects to begin on July 1. COSMIC also includes a one-year option that is followed by three option periods of two years each, NASA said Friday.
Work will take place at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi and Marshall Space Flight Center’s Michoud Assembly Facility in Louisiana.
Stennis houses NASA's Shared Service Center and is the agency's largest facility for testing rocket engines, while also holding the distinction of being the U.S.’ largest propulsion test site. Michoud is a manufacturing and assembly complex focused on large-scale space structures and systems.
COSMIC’s primary work areas include logistics, contract management, health and environmental compliance, safety, site services, facility operations and maintenance, engineering and manufacturing support, program management and site services.
Syncom Space Services, a joint venture formed by BWX Technologies and the former PAE, won the incumbent contract at a $1.2 billion ceiling that has since grown to $1.6 billion. Amentum acquired PAE in early 2022 and inherited that stake in Syncom.
