Work will focus on new technologies and procedures to validate capabilities before they go to the field.

Applied Research Associates has won a potential 10-year, $582 million contract to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency's research-and-development efforts

Two companies bid for the award, according to the Pentagon's Friday contracts digest.

If all options are exercised the 10-year contract is worth $582 million.

Data from GovTribe indicates that DTRA wants ARA to provide an integrated test-and-evaluation approach that includes data products, analytical tools and other new capabilities. Other Defense Department agencies can acquire services through the contract.

Testing activities may include novel technologies or tactics, new techniques and procedures as well as verification and validation before a capability is deployed.
