Sparksoft books $118M CMS data tracking order

Sparksoft has booked a four-year, $118 million task order to help the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services operate and maintain an interactive screening, monitoring and alerting tool.

The Advanced Provider Screening environment is designed to record and aggregate information on people and organizations in the U.S. healthcare system. APS screens more than 4 million active Medicare and Medicaid providers and suppliers to identify ineligibilities and potential fraud, waste and abuse in claims.

Sparksoft will work with CMS to carry out an agile transformation of APS with a heavy leaning on cloud-based digital services to support help the tool, the company said Friday.

CMS aims to ensure that the APS environment complies with IT policies and cybersecurity regulations, provides quality data to users, and aids in workflows and business processes for agency staff and external stakeholders.

CMS awarded the order through STARS III, a governmentwide IT contract vehicle reserved for small businesses. The agency received 10 bids in total for the work, according to Federal Procurement Data System records.
