BT Group appoints a new chief executive for the telecommunications giant's subsidiary focused on the U.S. government market that joins from Cubic Corp.

U.K. telecommunications conglomerate BT Group has hired a new CEO for its U.S. government subsidiary in Mike Barthlow, a former senior executive at Cubic Corp. and nearly 25-year federal market veteran.

He will be in charge of creating and carrying out the strategic growth plan for the business known as BT Federal, the company said Tuesday.

Reston, Virginia-headquartered BT Federal is one of nine carriers on the governmentwide Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions vehicle for agencies to leverage in modernizing their telecommunications networks.

Barthlow was most recently a senior vice president and general manager of Cubic’s mission communications and computing business unit, which falls within that company’s defense segment and was formed through a series of acquisitions.

His career also includes senior leadership roles at Northrop Grumman, AT&T’s commercial business and the former Harris Corp.
