AFCEA Bethesda Chapter Seeks Sponsors and Donors for 13th Annual Fundraiser to Benefit The Children’s Inn at NIH
Event Supports Healing Environment for Children Undergoing Treatment at the National Institutes of Health
Bethesda, Md. — December 20, 2010 — The Bethesda Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA Bethesda), a non-profit that promotes partnerships between government and industry, is currently seeking sponsors and donors for the 2011 “The Children Are Our Stars” Gala to benefit The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The 2011 Gala will take place at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C. on April 2, 2011.
Established more than 20 years ago, The Children’s Inn is the only family-centered residence for pediatric patients and their families, who are participating in groundbreaking treatments and biomedical research at the NIH. The April Gala is the single largest fundraiser for The Children’s Inn and has raised more than $3.5 million since the event’s inception in 1999. Last year, the Gala brought together more than 900 attendees and over $530,000 in contributions.
“AFCEA Bethesda has been honored to host The Children’s Inn Gala to help provide a place of hope for its seriously ill young residents and their families,” said Teresa Bozzelli, Vice President and Managing Director of Sapient Government Services and Chair of The Children's Inn Gala. “Thank you to all of those who have already given their support. And for others, please consider giving to this amazing and worthwhile cause.”
There are a number of opportunities for companies and individuals to participate in the Gala and support The Children’s Inn at NIH:
· Donate an auction item – donations are accepted until March 2011;
· Become a sponsor – all levels of sponsorship are available until March 2011; and
· Buy a table – table sales are near sell-out and will close in December 2010.
“It is through the generosity of organizations like AFCEA Bethesda that we can fund our mission to care for the heart, soul and spirit of families during their most trying times,” said Linda Berdine, Chair of the Board of Directors of The Children’s Inn at NIH.
