Estimates on the actual number of Federal data centers seem to grow each day - 932; 1,100; 1,200+… How many data centers does it take? President Obama's FY11 Federal budget request outlined data center consolidation as a key tenet of the new Federal IT strategy. The new Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative, announced February 26th from the Federal CIO's office, outlines the process and deadlines for driving agency data center consolidation forward. MeriTalk and NetApp invite government IT leaders and Federal systems integrators to attend this operational program to engage in dialogue on how the Federal government can move toward rationalizing its data center operations, meet the challenges and deadlines outlined in the Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative, and leverage best practices across the public and private sectors.
