The first IJIS Institute Technology Seminar Series offering, Justice and Public Safety 2.0, will include 16 jam-packed hours of instruction taught by industry experts in Web 2.0 technology. The first portion of the seminar will focus on how Web 2.0 matches your business needs. The remainder of the course will cover such topics as: What are the Web 2.0 technologies • that can be used in justice and public safety? • How to create a mash-up, using Google Earth and crime statistics as an example • Sophisticated composite applications built from existing systems—how to tie them together • Using secure blogs and wikis for small group incident investigations—do’s and don’ts • Ways to push data to investigators and decision makers using Web 2.0 technologies, such as RSS and Atom • Video techniques for web posting—how to use YouTube and Facebook • Integrated cell phone technology models • Advanced web searching tools for searching multiple data stores • Justice and public safety web site usability tips and techniques • Alternative financing for technology acquisitions • Security and privacy

Law enforcement and public safety operational technology specialists • Project managers and decision makers responsible for implementing information technology. • IT professionals and law enforcement agency planning and research staff • Technical services personnel and technologists, from government and industry, with a need or desire to learn more about implementation of contemporary technology tools
