Jane Harman to leave Congress

Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) is leaving Congress to take over as director of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C., according to published reports. A special election will be held in her southern California district to fill the vacancy caused by her departure.

Before the Republicans won a majority in the House last November, Harman chaired the Homeland Security Committee’s Intelligence, Information Sharing and Terrorism Risk Assessment Subcommittee.

At the Woodrow Wilson Center, Harman will take over from former Rep. Lee Hamilton (D-Ind.)
