Raymond Kline, GSA deputy administrator in 1980s, dies

Ray Kline, former deputy administrator for the General Services Administration, died on April 14. He was 83.

According to longtime friend and GSA colleague Frank McDonough, Kline was also a former president of the National Academy of Public Administration, a senior executive for NASA, and an executive staff member and congressional speech writer for Werner von Braun during the Apollo era.

"Ray was a great senior executive, a good guy, a role model for career executives, and he had a fabulous career," McDonough said, shortly after attending Kline's wake on April 19.

Kline served as GSA's second-in-command from 1979 to 1985, and stepped up to be acting administrator on occasion during that span.

His family requested that memorial donations be made to The Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45250.
