Avantus Federal acquires cyber services firm

Avantus Federal completes its first acquisition under the new name and branding that it unveiled to the market in November 2020.

Avantus Federal has completed acquisition number one under its current name and branding that was unveiled to the market in November of last year.

McLean, Virginia-headquartered Avantus purchased Occam’s Razor Technologies to add more cyber tool development and assessment work for agencies in the defense, intelligence and national security communities. Terms of the deal announced Thursday were undisclosed.

Founded in 2011, ORT’s services include network vulnerability testing and research to help customers improve their security postures. ORT also develops certain products to protect target devices and secure technology and communications infrastructures.

Backed by private equity firm NewSpring Capital, Avantus has sought to make its mark as a middle-tier government contractor in part by wanting to be one and making that a core part of the company’s identity.

KippsDeSanto and Covington & Burling LLP respectively served as financial adviser and legal counsel to Occam’s Razor Technologies. Blank Rome LLP served as counsel to Avantus.
