Booz Allen hires new defense AI lead

Booz Allen Hamilton brings in a nearly two-decade Lockheed Martin veteran to lead the defense-focused analytics and artificial intelligence business.

Booz Allen Hamilton has hired nearly two-decade Lockheed Martin veteran Matt Tarascio as a senior vice president in the government services firm’s strategic innovation group.

Tarascio will lead Booz Allen’s analytics and artificial intelligence business focused on defense customers and integration of analytics, data science and AI capabilities into client missions, the firm said Thursday.

He was Lockheed’s first-ever chief data and analytics officer with responsibility for establishing the function and organization of an enterprise approach to data strategy, analytics and AI.

Tarascio was most recently vice president of artificial intelligence at Lockheed and was responsible for the overall strategy to deploy AI and machine learning at scale. He joined Lockheed through its 2015 acquisition of Sikorsky.
