Accenture Federal Services has secured a potential $453 million contract to work with the Veterans Affairs Department on modernizing systems used for processing GI Bill benefit claims.
Work will take place over an initial base period of seven months followed by up to nine individual option years, AFS said Monday.
The contract involves automation, user interface and experience design, service transformation, analytics and other modern IT services to help the VA better process claims for education benefits.
Under the Digital GI Bill Delivery Program, the VA aims to transform close to two dozen legacy IT systems in an effort to improve customer service functions and set a framework for future implementations.
The Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020 requires the VA to roll out these updates and they are taking place nearly a decade after the enactment of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008.
