PE firm names LaMontagne to lead Smartronix-Trident business

Private equity firm OceanSound Partners appoints nearly two-decade veteran Peter LaMontagne to lead a combined company formed through two successive acquisitions.

Private equity firm OceanSound Partners has hired nearly two-decade government market veteran Peter LaMontagne as CEO of the combined company formed out of portfolio firms Smartronix and Trident Technologies.

LaMontangne will succeed Smartronix co-founder John Parris, who led that company as CEO since 2007 and both businesses since OceanSound first entered the Smartronix investment late last year. Parris will serve as vice chairman of the board of directors for the combined firm, OceanSound said in a release.

New York City-based OceanSound acquired Trident Technologies in March and added Smartronix eight months later.

Prior to this appointment, LaMontagne led geospatial analytics firm Quantum Spatial Inc. as CEO up through its acquisition by NV5 Global late last year. He is also a former CEO of Novetta, the government IT outfit he led from its launch in 2012 through early 2017.

LaMontagne sits on the board of directors for ManTech International.
