Army awards three OTA contracts for secure IT prototypes

The Army has made three new contract awards for prototype work on both the commercial delivery and management of secure IT services within the military’s primary information network.

AT&T, Microsoft and Verizon were named as recipients of three-year “Other Transaction Authority” agreements in a trio of award notices posted Friday to FedBizOpps.

Each award has a different initial fixed amount:

• AT&T -- $5.6 million
• Microsoft -- $18.2 million
• Verizon -- $9.7 million

The awards appear to be one part of the Army’s larger Enterprise Information Technology as a Service effort, also known as EITaaS, to move more of its IT Infrastructure into cloud environments.

The Army wants awardees of these OTA contracts to focus on connecting end users to the branch’s piece of the Department of Defense Information Network with storage, computing, hardware, software, network infrastructure and common IT services.

Other Transaction Authority awards are made outside the traditional procurement processes governed by the Federal Acquisition Regulation and used to more quickly acquire emerging capabilities.
