Deloitte hires former Air Force surgeon general

Deloitte adds Air Force Surgeon General Mark Edinger to the leadership team in its government and public services practice.

Deloitte has hired former Air Force Surgeon General Mark Edinger to the leadership team in its government and public services practice, the professional services firm said Thursday.

Edinger will work as an executive in the practice’s federal health business and work with agencies on issues related to data management, patient safety, quality of care and medical supply chain innovation.

As the Air Force’s surgeon general from 2015-2018, Edinger acted as functional manager for the branch’s medical service and was responsible over a $6.1 billion, 44,000-person integrated health care delivery and readiness system that serves 2.6 million beneficiaries at 76 military treatment facilities worldwide.

He retired from the Air Force last year after a nearly three-decade career in various health care leadership roles such as deputy surgeon general and commander of the branch’s medical operations agency.
