Pivotal Software receives a $100 million “Other Transaction Agreement” to continue helping the Air Force develop new combat software.
Pivotal Software has received a $100.1 million production “Other Transaction Agreement” to continue work at an Air Force laboratory tasked with developing new combat software.
This OTA is a follow-on to a prototype contract with Pivotal that began in August 2017. The new production pact seeks to take that methodology, software and services across the entire Air Force enterprise architecture, the Defense Department said in its Wednesday awards digest.
Alternative contracting methods such as OTAs have gained increased profile this year given expressed desires by defense and civilian agencies alike to develop and deliver new technologies at faster speeds.
The Air Force opened the Kessel Run Experimentation Lab in May to focus on modernizing the branch’s Air Operations Center weapons system that comprises applications and computer functions to support combat airpower.
Pivotal paired its staffers with Air Force personnel for the initial prototype OTA, then the team collaborated with another software company in TDMK Digital to set up the lab’s turnkey software development environment.
Work under the new OTA will take place through Dec. 18, 2019.
