GSA extends EIS transition to 2023

GSA has added three more years to the transition period for agencies to move from the current Networx telecom contract to EIS.

The transition from Networx to the new $50 billion Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract for telecommunications services has been extended by three more years, according to an exclusive report by our sister publication FCW.com.

Bill Zielinski, deputy assistant commissioner of the Office of Information Category in GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, told FCW senior staff writer Mark Rockwell that agencies who qualify for extensions have until 2023 to complete the shift to EIS.

But Zielinski emphasized that agencies shouldn’t assume there is now a lack of urgency for making EIS plans.

"I'd stress that this isn't simply moving the deadline to the right," he told Rockwell.

A possible extension has been the subject of speculation for months by telecom industry and federal market experts.
