Navy picks six for $3B Microsoft software supply pact

The Navy has chosen six companies for a 10-year, $3.2 billion blanket purchase agreement to distribute Microsoft brand name software licenses and subscriptions to defense and intelligence agencies, plus the Coast Guard.

Awardees will compete for delivery orders that cover commercial-off-the-shelf items such as desktop software, operating systems and tools for virtualization, management, mobility and software assurance. This contract falls under the larger Defense Department Enterprise Software Initiative to streamline license and IT product acquisitions across the military, DOD said in its Thursday awards digest.

Winners are:

  • CDW Government
  • Dell
  • GovConnection
  • Insight Public Sector
  • Minburn Technology Group
  • SHI International

They were the lone bidders for the contract out of the 895 vendors the Navy solicited to bid on the BPA.

DOD has made a trio of major awards this year for brand name IT products and services under the ESI initiative. Two came in May via a $550.8 million BPA for McAfee products that three companies won places on, plus a separate $653.2 million pact for Microsoft cloud products clinched by Insight Public Sector.
