Raytheon adds more commercial cyber partners

Raytheon said Tuesday it has forged a pair of new partnerships with commercial cybersecurity players under the house of the defense contractor’s services business -- which has heavily pushed this approach to bring those tools into government and highly-regulated industries.

These latest pacts are with Cybraics, an advanced analytics and artificial intelligence company; and Authentic8, which has built a secure virtual web browser to work in a cloud environment. Raytheon seeks to leverage these partnerships to bring customers what it touts as a “cyber-as-a-service” subscription model for accessing protection technologies.

The collaborations aim to help secure critical infrastructure systems that include those in the electoral, financial and health care domains.

Over the past year-and-a-half, Raytheon has also forged a collaboration with Pivotal focused on agile software development and Virsec to bring computer network defense tools into the global public sector and critical infrastructure markets. Raytheon also formed a cyber-focused pact with MetTel to help the latter in opportunities under the General Services Administration's Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract for next-generation telecommunications.

Enlisting partners like these five mentioned is Raytheon’s way of positioning itself as a lead integrator of commercial technologies for the military in particular, especially tools not available inside the traditional defense supplier base.
