Small firm keeps $385M combatant command IT contract

The Vykin Corp. has won a new five-year, $385 million contract with the Defense Information Systems Agency to carry out network engineering services for an IT environment used by combatant commands.

Vykin fended off six other proposals to keep its incumbency for the "Mission Partner Environment Network Engineering Services for the Combatant Commands" contract. One other bid was submitted to DISA but not evaluated, the Defense Department said in its Monday contracts digest.

Reston, Virginia-based Vykin has performed the work under the current contract since 2012, according to Deltek data. Both the current and new "MPE CCMDS" contract cover services and hardware to support the overall DISA mission partner environment, multinodal information sharing and other information systems and networks.

The overall project supports both combatant commands and coalition partners.

DISA is also holding a large business competition for a $998 million contract to perform similar work. The agency released a solicitation Aug. 9 for the "Mission Partner Environment Services contract" with all proposals due Sept. 10. Deltek data indicates an award is anticipated around February 2019.
