Perspecta books $149M Medicare application hosting order

Perspecta has won a potential five-year, $149 million task order to host applications for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to process claims applications.

The task order has a one-year base period followed by up to four option years, Perspecta said Friday. CMS issued the order against its $15 billion Virtual Data Center Primary Large Business contract originally awarded in 2012 to eight companies including what later became Perspecta.

Perspecta launched June 1 through the spinoff of DXC's U.S. public sector business and subsequent merger of it with Vencore and KeyPoint Government Solutions. The VDCP contract originally went to Hewlett Packard and then after company's 2015 split moved to Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

DXC then inherited the contract in 2017 after that company's formation through the merger of HPE's enterprise services business with Computer Sciences Corp.

Perspecta and its predecessors have supported Medicare since the program's inception in the 1960s, CEO Mac Curtis said in a release.

This specific task order calls on Perspecta to host three Medicare applications used by CMS to process Part B claims for Durable Medical Equipment and the Railroad Retirement Board for all 50 states, plus Part A and Part B claims in 31 states.

CMS received three offers for the order, according to information from the Federal Procurement Data System.
