NCI Inc. has won a five-year, $44.5 million contract to help the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services process data and review claims to determine whether payments on health care programs were made correctly or in error.
Work will support efforts to reduce improper payment rates across the U.S. for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. NCI said Tuesday it will work with other contractors participating in the Payment Error rate Measurement Review program to help produce a national report on Medicaid and CHIP improper payments CMS gives to Congress each year.
The company will also research state Medicaid and CHIP policies, request and collect medical records from health providers, and meet with state offices to process reviews and incorporate the results into an error rate findings system.
