Radiant Solutions gets extension on Army geospatial tech services contract

Maxar's Radiant Solutions business signs a new contract with the Army to continue support of a platform used to access geospatial data.
Maxar Technologies’ Radiant Solutions business has signed a new $2.6 million follow-on contract with the Army to continue systems engineering and software development work on a platform used to access geospatial data.
The Remote Ground Terminal Program is a transportable ground receiving and processing tool built to collect remote sensing data from commercial satellites that send and receive optical and synthetic aperture radar signals.
Herndon, Virginia-based Radiant said Monday the RGT system supports military, humanitarian aid and disaster relief missions out of locations with extremely limited infrastructure.
For RGT, the optical satellites provide-high resolution images that capture areas under one meter but need light to record the images. Synthetic aperture radar satellites acquire data regardless of light or weather condition; combining multiple sources of data to support round-the-clock coverage.
Radiant is one of four major business segments within space technology company Maxar, which launched in October upon the combination of MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates with DigitalGlobe.
Maxar also has 700 of its total 6,500 employees based in the Washington, D.C. region.
