Qualys hires Solms to lead federal arm

Secure cloud technology provider Qualys said Thursday it has hired three-decade IT industry veteran Bill Solms as vice president and general manager of the company’s federal division.

Silicon Valley-based Qualys holds an authority-to-operate designation for the government-wide FedRAMP cloud adoption program and is on the approved product list for the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation initiative.

Solms joins Qualys from WildRock Security Group, where he was CEO and co-founder. He is also a former CEO of publicly-traded cyber company Wave Systems.

Prior to Wave Systems, he led the federal sales team for the Oracle On Demand product and oversaw a defense sales team at Microsoft.
